Renewed Partnerships

Lifetime.Education is pleased to announce that we have officially renewed partnerships with two of our closest partner facilities in Fort Wayne – Cedars HOPE – a facility providing long-term supportive care for women living with serious mental illness and Hope House, a division of YWCA of Northeast Indiana -a home for chemically dependent women on their way to recovery.

Lifetime.Education has long offered our services at both partner locations in Fort Wayne.

At Cedars HOPE, we debuted our first Nutrition and Personal Wellness Course in Fort Wayne – a new version of which, with emphasis on hands-on cooking experience, begins next week. Cedars HOPE is also home to a Lifetime.Education full-service computer lab that residents use both during our Digital Skills Course taught each week and also to practice on their own time.

Hope House, a division of YWCA of Northeast Indiana, has been an instrumental partner for Lifetime.Education since our begining. We’ve held many Financial Skills Courses, Adult Basic Education (HSED/GED) Tutoring, and on-going Digital Skills classes that take place each Wednesday.

We believe strongly in the mission of our partner facilities and excited to continue our journey and work together into the next year.

Lifetime.Education Mobile App Beta Released

We’ve been given the beta version of our mobile application being developed by the Computer Science students at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

The application is a two-semester-long project for the students while our Graphics Design & Social Media Intern (also from IPFW) has supplied the graphic work.

Volunteers will be able to check their e-mail, report volunteer hours, and use their calendars on-the-go, from a single application. How exciting! We can’t wait to see the finished version!

Featured partner of October 2014 – The Carriage House

We’re pleased to announce our featured partner of October, 2014 is the Carriage House – also known as the Fort Wayne Clubhouse.

The Carriage House is a clubhouse model facility serving individuals with mental illness in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This model is unique in that members and staff typically have equal say and authority in decision making.

Homeless Coalition of Fort Wayne, Inc. has been offering High School Equivalancy Dipolma (HSED) tutoring, Math Readiness, and Reading Comprehension at the Carriage House for the last year.

Fun fact: The Carriage House has the distinction of being the first and only partner facility where members who receive services have been trained as Volunteer Tutors with the Homeless Coalition and assigned to  help fellow members.

To ensure Homeless Coalition students at the Carriage House have access to technology to help them succeed, the Homeless Coalition installed and maintains a computer lab at the Carriage House with computer access exclusively for educational purposes.

Education lasts a lifetime.

What impact would like to make?

Nothing in this world outlasts education. A meal is quickly digested and material items wear out.

Education is the ultimate tool to advance a persons life, well-being, and opportunity for a brighter tomorrow.

This is the reason we are passionate about education.

We’re in this for the long haul and a quick fix just won’t do. Join us and help us change the world, one opportunity at a time.

Education lasts forever.
