Volunteer Tutor, High School Equivalency Diploma Preparation(formerly known as GED):

  • Description: Volunteer HSED tutors work one-on-one and with  and guide students at partner sites around Fort Wayne.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Reading Comprehension:

  • Description: Our tutors work one-on-one with student to improve their skills and enrich their lives.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Math-Readiness: 

  • Description: From basic-skills to college-level math, our tutors work one-on-one with students at partner sites around Fort Wayne to improve math skills.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Life Skills:

  • Description: Volunteer life skills tutors work one-on-one with students in the areas of: analyzing & decision making, self-discipline, interpersonal skills, and relaxation & thinking positive thinking.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Computer Skills:

  • Description: Volunteer tutors will work with students to develop their skills in basic, intermediate, and advanced computer use.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, ESL (English as a Second Language):

  • Description: Volunteer ESL tutors work in one-on-one or group tutoring from foundation to advanced levels.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Healthy Living:

  • Description: Volunteer tutors will guide students in all aspects of healthy living ranging from nutrition & wellness, to family health, to hygiene information. Tutors may also partake in HCFTW-facilitated health-fairs through our community partners.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Money Management:

  • Description: Volunteers will instruct students in courses including:  budgeting, bank account use, credit fundamentals, and saving for the future. Tutors may also partake in group lectures by financial-industry professionals facilitated by HCFTW.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Career Services:

  • Description: Volunteers will guide students in: job shadowing, career-mentoring, and skills for attaining a job.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.

Volunteer Tutor, Citizenship:

  • Description: Volunteers will guide permanent legal residents desiring US citizenship through: the US citizenship test, including, American History & United States Government. The Interview process – what to expect and how to exceed expectations.
  • Requirements: High School Diploma, reliable transportation, and completion of orientation with training.
